Our three year old program is a theme based, socially interactive curriculum that utilizes a project approach to introduce your 3 year old to letters, numbers, shapes and colors through seasonal themes. Activities are always “hands-on” in both large and small groups as well as individual settings. Letters are introduced through art activities, and reinforced throughout the centers. Your three year old will be introduced to numbers, and number concepts, hands-on science activities that promote curiosity, and quality literature that fosters reading readiness. Our enriched three year old curriculum prepares your child for the wonderful world of Pre-K.
Pre-K
(for children 4 years of age by December
1st)
South Shore Children’s Center Pre-Kindergarten program offers a balanced approach to early elementary school skills. Because your pre-kindergarten child is rapidly approaching the elementary school we focus on the skills necessary to meet the challenges they will face in kindergarten. We use an interdisciplinary curriculum, incorporating key skills into a monthly theme. Pre- Kindergarten goals include alphabet recognition and writing as well as recognizing the phonetic blends associated with emergent reading skills. Number concepts are taught through hands-on experience with manipulative and concrete objects. A strong emphasis is put on recognizing math in the child’s every day world. Fine, gross and perceptual motor skills are worked on daily. South Shore Children’s Center strives to make your child’s first school experience a positive one to encourage a love of learning and an enthusiasm for school that will last.
